Every wonder what some of the terminology that is used at Scram means? Well here is your chance to find out.
IID Terms
BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) - BAC is the blood alcohol level expressed as a percentage. Content of alcohol in the blood, or BAC, is used to determine if a person is legally intoxicated, especially when driving while intoxicated.
MA (Mechanics Affidavit) - A form that needs to be filled out by a certified mechanic stipulating the service dates and type of service that will be performed in a vehicle that has an IID installed.

Services/ Appointment Terminology
Monitor - The service appointment a client must have to remain in compliance with their state and their LifeSafer/ Guardian program. At this appointment, the data (blows, battery disconnections, tampering etc.) from the client’s device is downloaded to be sent to our reporting department and they are calibrated so that future blows can be recorded. This service usually recurs every 30 or 60 days. (Calibration appointment)
Reset/Violation Reset - a service that is performed once a client’s device goes into Early Recall.
Early Recall - a state the interlock goes into once a violation has been recorded, making it to where the client must return the vehicle to the location for a reset service before it locks out on a date sooner than the scheduled Lockout Date
Violations - failures, battery disconnections/power losses, tampering, excessive aborts.
POC (Permanent Lockout Override Code) - This is a code provided to clients who are in a permanent lockout state and allows them a ‘One Time Start’ to drive to the service center for a service that will prevent the lockout from occurring. The service may be a Monitor or reset depending on the reason for the lockout.
Mechanic Bypass - This is a type of bypass method/ code for clients who are having mechanical work performed on their vehicle. This allows the Mechanic to perform repairs, disconnect the battery, and stop and start the vehicle without having to blow into the device and possibly record a violation. Mechanics are different from LifeSafer technicians.
Vehicle Swap - The removal of the interlock from the current vehicle and installing it into a new/ different vehicle.
Final Download - A service where a client goes to the Service Center for a download that will send an accumulated report of past downloads to their Monitoring Authority and our reporting department to review to determine if the client can or cannot remove their interlock device. Always review this section when reviewing the De-install section.
End of Program – This is the date that the client’s program ends, this date is determined/issued by the monitoring authority.
Early Termination - A fee that a client is charged when they terminate their contract earlier than their program end date set by the Monitoring Authority. Always review this section when reviewing the De-install section.
