State-to-State Transfer Request

Updated: Dec 4, 2023

Following the correct steps for a State-to-State transfer ensures that we are following the State specific rules for our clients.

State to State Transfer (LifeSafer)

Check BOTH state SOP's for Out of State

  • You must make sure that the conviction state allows out of State services and that the state the client desires to go into will accept Out of State clients.

Check that device type (if the new state can service the client's model of device)

  • Any state can say that they will accept out of state services.

Pro tips

  • A camera is an extra component that do not affect if a device can be serviced or not.

  • FI100 and the FC100 are the same device.

Check your client's account to see if they have a balance on the account.

  • Accounts with a balance cannot be transferred.

  • If your client has a credit, it will not transfer either. If your client is moving on a permanent or long-term basis you can reach out to CSG to see if the credit can be moved. This is not a guarantee though.

Find a location that the client can actually get serviced at in the new state.

  • You won't be able to schedule just yet, but you want to make sure that you do have an idea where your client can go.

  • When you do the state-to-state transfer you may have to pick another location once you can see the schedule but that is okay.

Check for any existing appointments that are no longer needed.

  • Before you request for the transfer make sure to remove any appointment that is not needed.

    • Ex. Client has a Monitor appointment in Florida but wants to get serviced in Maryland. You cannot reschedule the existing appointment to the new state. You need to remove the appointment in Florida and then make a new appointment in Maryland once the transfer is complete.

    • Ex. Client is in Washington and needs a reset, but his account is in Arizona. Client has as a Monitor appointment in two weeks back in Arizona.

      • In this scenario you need to check with the client to see if they will return to Washington before that Monitor appointment. If they will we can leave the appointment and request transfer. If they will not return to Washington, then we should remove the appointment before the transfer.

Once you have walked through the following steps you will need to request this transfer in the State-to-State Transfer Support Chat. This procedure only applies to the LifeSafer clients.

Here is a template for requesting a transfer.

When your state-to-state transfer is complete you should search the account again and you will see that the jurisdiction is now in the new state.

State to State Transfer (Guardian M9 and Guardian Plus)

  • When the client wants to get scheduled in another state you DO NOT need to post this in our State-to-State transfer chat. You are able to schedule in another state the same way you would schedule an appointment for the client just choose the new desired state and location the client is transferring to.

  • You still must check the SOP for the client’s convicted state to make sure that they are able to be serviced out of state. You also need to check the SOP for the state that the client wants to go to, making sure that they can actually be scheduled there as well. The client should not be transferred if there is not a location that can serve the client’s Guardian devices.

For QuickStart and Monitech, their clients cannot get out of state services.
